Module 2

I can become involved in the information system in my workplace by letting the "IT" people know the needs of the nurses. In the past there hasn't been much communication and we end up trying to "make do" with whatever we seem to have. By expressing our needs in a format the can be understood by "IT" people, I think we can have the information systems more friendly to our responsibilities. I realize that if a programmer has not worked in our role they would not understand the problems we would face in using a program that may work great in another area like accounting or teaching.

I need to work to improve communication with all involved and be able to express our needs in a format that is understood by those in the computer world.

  1. I could not agree with you more, it is important to have clinician feedback in the improvement of these systems. The system needs to meet the needs of clinicians and clinicians should not have to have "work-arounds" to adapt to the system. Another area that many organizations need to work on is communication as you so clearly point out. So yes, please voice your feedback, it is important and needed.
